The following are anticipated questions and answers related to Network Learning Tools (NLT).

General Questions and Answers ...

What is the cost?
It costs $10 per hour, with a volume discount for higher units of time.

Will future applications cost the same?
Yes. It makes life simpler if current and future applications cost the same. This allows you to switch between applications without stopping and purchasing time specific to a program.

How many scenarios can I choose from?
We currently offer 70 scenarios from which to choose, based on Cisco's CCNA™ exam topics.

Which Cisco CCNA™ exam topics does the scenario material cover?
Planning and Designing, Implementation and Operation, and Troubleshooting.

Is my time displayed any where?
Your remaining time is displayed in minutes on your MyAccount page and at the top of any Scenario screen that you are involved with.

What operating system is supported?
You need to be operating either Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

What browser do I need to use NLT?
For the best online experience, we recommend:

Microsoft Internet Explorer™ 6.0.29 and higher on Windows XP
6.0.28 on Windows 2000
Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.7 and higher
Mozilla All-In-One suite Not supported

Please Note: Download and use final browser versions and not beta versions. If you're not ready to upgrade, your browser or you don't use one of these operating systems, you can still use NLT but you may experience problems. We recommend trying the NLT Scenario Demo to ensure it will work with your browser.

Are there any special screen/browser requirements?

  • Use one browser window and login to one session at a time. Starting multiple sessions is not supported and may cause unpredictable results.
  • Your screen must be at a minimum resolution of 800 x 600.
  • Cookies must be enabled. We only use a session cookie which is removed when the browser is closed.
  • Javascript must be enabled.
  • Images must be allowed from the NLT site.
  • To check your browser for compatibility go to our Browser Compatibility page that checks your browser and provides instructions to adjust the required settings.

In Internet Explorer, to enable ...

Cookies - go to Tools, Internet Options, then the Privacy tab, then adjust the setting to "Medium" or "Medium High", then close the browser and start it again.

Javascript - go to Tools, Internet Options, then the Security tab, click the Internet zone then Custom Level. Under Scripting enable the "Active Scripting" option, and the "Allow paste operations via script" option, then close the browser and start it again.

In Firefox, to enable ...

Cookies - go to Tools, Options, Privacy, then the Cookies tab, then either check "Allow sites to set Cookies".

Javascript - go to Tools, Options, Content, and check Enable Javascript.

How soon after my purchase can I use NLT?
After your purchase you will receive a registration email within a few minutes. Click on the link, fill out registration information, and you are ready to log in and start using NLT.

Do I have to register again if I purchase more time?
No. You only have to register once. After you have purchased additional time, simply go to the NLT home page and log in.

When does my remaining time start counting down?
You are on the timer as soon as you log in.

If there is inactivity on my end, am I charged?
No. You will not be charged for your time of inactivity. If for example, you walk away and get distracted, you will not be charged for that time. However, the application will log you out after 11 minutes of inactivity.

How do I report a problem?
Send an email to technical support describing the problem. Include the type of browser you are using and your username.

For Schools, Companies, and Administrators ...

Can schools or companies submit a purchase order in order to use NLT?
Yes. Contact our sales department about details (click on the Sales link at the top of the page).

I am an instructor and I want to purchase time for my class. Can I do this?
Yes. Someone needs to be responsible for initially registering with NLT. You can then log in and add students to your account. The remaining minutes will be used collectively by the entire class.

Can students simultaneously use NLT, under the same account?
Yes. In fact, students can log in and be working with the same or different scenarios at the same.

What options are available for me administering an account to my students?
You can add or remove students from your account. You can also disable one or more students from using your account without removing their names from on your MyAccount page.

At the beginning of a new school session, how do I add a new class?
On your MyAccount page manually delete students from a prior session and add new ones.

As a instructor can I assign specific minutes to students?
No, not at this time. Any student that has been added to your account (and their record is not disabled) will share the number of minutes remaining in your account.
